DIY Sparkly, Glossy Hearts...

foryou
Hey!

Happy Monday! I hope your start to the week is a good one. It's certainly been a sunny one here - I'm not complaining!

I'm popping in today with a card featuring lots of Simon Says Stamp goodness. The background was created by repeatedly stamping one of the scribble flowers from the Scribble Flowers stamp set. I love how they make a cool, modern frame. A frame that perfectly fits a masked sentiment from the SSS set, Garden Flowers. Perfect-o-mondo!

To draw your eye to the focal point and add a bit more interest I framed the sentiment further by tying a loopy bow with long tails (my favourite kind of bow) and some DIY sparkle hearts.

The hearts were created by collecting hearts from punching a Martha Stewart heart border punch on some Doll Pink SSS cardstock and then covering it with a good ol' Wink of Stella along with a glopping of Glossy Accents. For the larger heart, I stamped the heart from Clearly Besotted Stamps' Once Upon a Time stamp set (Also available at SSS) on Doll Pink cardstock, cut it out and flipped it over. It too had the same sparkle and glossy treatment. The hardest part is waiting for those Glossy Accents to dry!

Well that's all from me today. Time to hit the gym after a long day at work. Am I crazy? Probably. But I know my body will thank me for it. Just maybe not today....! Ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Technical Issues...

Hey!

Just a heads up that I know that things don't look too pretty on the blogeroo right now. Turns out that some of my images have disappeared and I've not a clue why! Argh! I'm working to get this fixed ASAP, but until then you may just have to avert your eyes from the surroundings and focus on the projects (if they show!)

Sorry!

Aimes :)

Falling snow in June...

hello beautiful
Hey!

Happy weekend! It's one of surreal, mixed emotions here as yesterday was my final day at school and I now start to look forward to my new job/career on Monday (more on that later!). My amazing colleagues and friends had me sobbing by lunchtime - it was inevitable I guess!

So seeing as I'm not going to be seeing my colleagues and friends so much now, I'm going to need a good stash of 'hello' cards to post to them! :)

hello beautiful (close up)

Cue a few of my favourite Simon Says Stamp goodies to come to the rescue that will have me whipping up hello cards in no time (handy seeing as I'm going to have little spare time on my hands in the future!) This card features a beautiful flower and sentiment stamp from the set, Summer Garden, as well as some fun with white embossing paste and a Simon Says Stamp stencil. Yes, it's a stencil called 'Falling Snow' but it's been known to snow in June, right?

tips and tricks
  • Although the stencil is perfect for creating snow falling as a background, it also works as a fun polka dot pattern for many occasions.
  • As the polka dots are closer in proximity at the top of the card, the focal point for the flower and sentiment are best placed at the top too. If I'd have placed them on the bottom, the design wouldn't flow so easily and would force your eyes to work harder. ;)
  • The sentiment stamp had a larger space inbetween the words; this meant that it was too long for the width of the card. I therefore simply inked and stamped the sentiment one word at a time to reduce the spacing.
Extra sparkles have been added to my flower with the help of gold stickles and dusting of magical sparkles with my clear Wink of Stella pen. :)

Well it's back to preparing for my first day of a new adventure on Monday. If I find time, I might squeeze in a bit of inky therapy too of course. :)

Thanks for stopping by today. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

A magnet posing as a horseshoe...

good luck
Hey!

It's the 10th of the month and we know what that means, right? Yup, eleven days until my birthday time for a new Clearly Besotted Stamps challenge!

The theme this month is 'Anything Goes' so this makes is easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy to play along with us. No excuses. Get those Clearly Besotted Stamps goodies at the ready and get busy! :D

For my card, I got acquainted with some new CBS goodies that I hadn't had time to play with yet. I bet you didn't notice that horseshoe die in the new release, did you? Well that's because it's the magnet die from the Scientifically Speaking Die Collection turned upside down. ;)

good luck close up

The magnet/horseshoe was die cut from some Cricut gold glitter iron-on material. A few subtle flowers stamped from Nouveau Flowers and a sentiment in an adorable font from Sweet Little Sentiments completes the card.

tips and tricks
  • This design features a whole lot of symmetry which keeps everything balanced. Everything (apart from the sentiment of course) is symmetrical.
  • I found it super easy to ink up various parts of the floral design in different colours by using tiny teardrop-shaped ink pads. This has the added bonus of being able to ink up one stamp with various colours and stamp it once rather than have to repeat (and line up!) the process.
  • The floral stamp coordinates with some beautiful stems, but don't be afraid to use it alone as a pattern building stamp.
I hope you can find time to play along with us! For full deets of the challenge, and to check out the rest of the CBS design team's creations, please pop along to Stephanie's. :)

That's enough from me today. I still have a heck of a lot to do before I finish work on Friday!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by here today!

A Kylie & Jason Card...

Especially for you
Hey!

Happy Monday! I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this Monday...it's my final week in my current employment and as much as I'm looking forward to a new adventure, a part of me is going to miss this experience. A lot. This is partly the reason for being so extremely busy lately and I can reveal all about my future career next week (I'm so excited!) Apologies, I digress - you came here to see a card, right? Well as you can see, I have one of those too. :)

I'd like to call today's card a, 'Kylie & Jason' card. I cannot get that 80s classic, 'Especially for You' out of my head as I type about it - ha! But cheesy pop classics aside, today's card features some Top Dog Dies goodness in the form of a doily from the Top Dog Dies Cherish Doilies & Tags Die Set and some leafy accents thanks to the Top Dog Dies Berry Branch Die.

tips and tricks
  • Although the berry branch die has berries on it, I simply used the top end which contains no berries.
  • I die cut the branch from white cardstock and coloured it with my Promarkers. This was much quicker than die cutting the branch twice from green and brown cardstock and placing them together.
It feels like summer is finally starting to arrive here and I think that's what influenced this fresh, summer combo of colours. Man, I'm going to miss those summer holidays!

Well my final week at school is a super busy one - I'd best get back to the books. Marking is certainly one thing that I will not miss about my job. *wink*

Thanks for stopping by today!
