My kinda baking...

Hey!

Well after some rest I'm now back, itching to get inky and ready to blog again!

Just before I do though, some of you have been sweet enough to comment and email asking me about my dad so I figured I'd update you here (feel free to skip to the card if you wish!). It's certainly been tough here and sadly Dad's condition deteriorated a few weeks ago which meant he could not come home for Christmas. So Christmas was....in a word....different. We did (and do) visit him often with fingers crossed for signs of improvement. I'll keep you informed if anything changes (hopefully for the better!)

Right. Back to the inky business! So we had a week off, but I hope you haven't forgotten that Friday Eve (Thursdays) mean it's time for a new CASE study! We're ending 2010 and starting 2011 with a BANG! here on CASE study. Check out this fabulous creation up for CASEing this week courtesy of our muse, Nina Brackett:

I know, gorgeous, right?! I honestly thought I knew exactly where I was heading when creating my own take on this; but then I was reminded that a wedding card was needed for the wedding we attended on the 27th. Eeek! A wedding card with no wedding themed stamps and a CASE study to create before Christmas to get myself organised. What's a gal to do? Well think out of the box a little and create a card that suits both occasions of course!

Celebrate

Hope you can tell that I CASEd aspects of the layout for my homemade Wedding Cake made from super pretty shimmer cardstock! Now this is my kinda baking: I'm a disaster in the kitchen but paper-based cakes are my speciality :)

I'm itching to play along again with this week's CASE study and I hope you fancy playing along too! Remember, up for grabs is a prize for one randomly selected peep so wha'cha waitin' for!

Thank you so much for all your visits and comments this past year; you've made 2010 a fabulous year for me in terms of my obsession hobby and I truly appreciate it! Here's to 2011....! Cheers!

A Christmas Birthday...

Hey!

I hope you all had a super holiday! I'm still in the midst of recovering from the busiest few days of the year: we had not only Christmas, but a Christmas Birthday to celebrate and a Christmas Wedding to attend (that looked so pretty with the snow surrounding!) so I'm ready for some rest and it's not even New Years Eve quite yet!

But enough of my plans, the reason I'm here is to share this card with you:

Happy Birthday

This was made for my mum's birthday (celebrated on Boxing Day!)

I'm also being super sneaky as it also fits into our new challenge on the our PTI blog! We're keeping our challenge this fortnight pretty simple due to the busy season so all we're asking is that you incorporate a background set into your project and use at least one Papertrey ink product. Easy peasy! As you can see - I'm a sucker for polka dots and adore my Polka Dot Basics II set :)

So if you can find any spare inky time then we'd love it if you could join in the fun with us! Up for one lucky European Peeps is a PTI Signature Series: Cupcake mini stamp set!

I'll be catching up with y'all via my Google Reader as soon I recover from being a party animal: you can tell I'm getting older with the amount of days rather than hours it takes to recover from the late nights - ha!

Stay tuned tomorrow for a new CASE study too! I'll be sharing the card I made for the wedding we attended on Monday - I don't have any wedding themed stamps so I really had to think outta the box for that one...

It's Christmas (and freezing cold too!)

Hey!

Celebrating the first official day of the Christmas Holidays today with a cracking temperature of minus 10 Celsius - eek!

And as it's so cold and there's a sprinkling of snow on the ground - I'll keep within the Christmas spirit and share another one of my Christmas cards designs with ya:

It's Christmas

OK so do you notice that I used a new (to me!) kinda stamp on these? Yup. It's official. I'm a fan of Waltzingmouse Stamps! That teeny tree set made my heart skip a beat and then the Frame It set was truly game set and match for me! Love the versatility of those sets and it definitely won't be the last you see of me using them :)

Anyways, this super simple (and flat for cheaper postage *wink*) design was made in a couple more colour combos too.

Nice and festive with red and green:

It's Christmas

And slightly more elegant and regal with this colour combo (great for the guys!):

My photos can't really capture the pretty shine from those embossed stars on the trees but they look pretty IRL!
Y'know I really am not a fan of mass production - but by changing a colour combo it certainly makes it more fun making cards for Christmas. I'm glad to say that all my cards have now been made and should hopefully be making their journeys to their new homes....fingers crossed!

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting during this super busy festive season!

Whatever the style, it's Glossy! :)

Hey!

Sooooooo nearly there! Just two more days to go before we hit those sweet Christmas Holidays!

Let's have a treat and kick off the true countdown to those holidays with:

Yup! A new CASE study for us! (You just knew I was going to say that, right?!)

Let's see what our muse, Nina Brackett, has in store for our inspiration this week:

Oooh hitting my weak spot with that butterfly on this fabby creation. In fact, that's pretty much what dictated my whole approach to this week's CASE study:

Thank you so much

*gasp* not a Christmas card! I know - I shocked myself with this one! I still struggle with the whole shabby chic/vintage look and I think this is about as close as I'll ever get.

Now this photo lets you see that I dolloped on the Glossy Accents which makes my butterfly look super shiny but it's hard to capture the detail of it with my camera so here's another shot for good measure:

Thank you so much 2

Ah well - you're just gonna have to trust me when I say that you can see much more of that butterfly IRL ;D

I'm also being super sneaky and entering this for the December challenge over at the Hero Arts Blog (that background ledger stamp is Hero Arts btw!) This fits into two of the three choices of challenges over there (To make a Thank You card and to add Shine to a project. Multi-tasking or what eh?! *wink*)

So I know it's super busy for us all at this time of year. Can't ya just tell by how short and sweet my blog posts are becoming?! Any shorter or sweeter and you'll get toothache - Ha! But we would really love it if you could join in our challenge too. Just use the original creation to get your mojo tickin' - simples!

Need some more mojo? Then check out what the super duper CASE study DT rustled up for ya:

Iwona Palamountain (Chupa)
Andrea Ewen
Cristina Kowalczyk
Jean Martin
Julie Smith
Lenet Mos

Need some more temptation (seriously?!) well one randomly selected peep will win some goodies! So what ya waitin' for?!

I now have to dash to prepare for 'the' social event of the year. What's that you ask? The School Christmas Disco of course! :D

Same Card, Different Colours...

Hey!

Well it's the final week of school before we break up for Christmas - Woo Hoo!!! I'll definitely be looking forward to Friday this week :)

And speaking of Christmas, I'm sharing another Christmas card with ya today. OK, I know it's the same card design as my previous cards, but it still impresses me how different they can look by simply changing the colours and a few of the embellishments.

Happy Holidays

This card not only celebrates the holidays, but a new challenge on our PTI blog too!!!! For this fortnight, we wanna see creations with pearls on. C'mon you know you've got some hiding in your stash somewhere....

We'd obviously love it if you played along with us! Up for grabs for one lucky European peep is a Fillable Frames #6 stamp set!

Gorgeous Green...

Hey!

Well things are still soooooooo icy cold here, but I'm returning to more of a routine which sadly means much less inky time *sob* I was becoming used to rolling outta bed, putting the kettle on and going to straight to my crafting corner!

But enough moaning from me, let's get your brains working this morning with a bit of maths. Ready?

Friday Eve = CASE study (Now that's my kinda Maths - Ha!)

Still with me? I hope so because here as our Muse for December is Nina Brackett's gorgeous creation up for CASEing:

And here's my very CAS and Monochromatic take on it (made during my bonus inky hours last week *wink*)

there's no one like you friend

Hope you can tell that I was inspired by the layout and the flower from the original. Y'know I treated myself to some of these delicious, pre-sparkled Prima flowers in green (what else?!) ages ago and have been hoarding them like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, "My Precious!" Ha! So I decided it was about time to let at least one of these babies loose and this one matched almost perfectly with New Leaf cardstock *smile*.

Here's hoping you can play along with us! Remember that one random peep will win some goodies so why not have a go?! And if you need more inspiration, then check out the rest of the fabulous CASE study DT:

Nov 2010 CARDS Publication

Hey!

It's still snowy here and I'm stuck inside, but I'm not complaining. I've never had so much inky therapy time during what should be a working week!

Today I'm not sharing a card I made during my bonus inky sessions, but a card that has become very dear to me (even though it's not with me now). My first published card - ever! Yup, that's right, I can now share my very first publication from the Nov 2010 issue of CARDS (check it out on page 49!) Thanks CARDS Magazine!

And because my photography is pretty pants in comparison to the magazine's, just check out how sweet the set up was for it:

Could you find a more perfect home for this card?! :)

And by total, freaky, pure, coincidence - do you know what came through the post today? A copy of the magazine itself! Thanks so much to my super sweet Canadian buddy, Maureen (or Diva as I like to call her after her Verve Guest Diva fame!) - you're a star (and a Diva!)!!! It was a total surprise and I still can't stop stroking the glossy pages :D

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now I've got to figure how I'm going to get to the post office to post some cards in time for Christmas....wish me luck!

'tis the season....for SNOW!

Hey!

Just one word to sum up the last couple of days here in Sheffield - SNOW! I've never seen so much of the white stuff! School has been shut since Tuesday and they say the last time there was this much snow was before I was born *insert your own age jokes here* Ha! We've been informed by the police to say indoors and not travel unless absolutely necessary so the only traveling I'm doing is from the sofa to the my crafty corner :)

Well snow, or now snow, the snow show must go on! Time for another CASE study

And a bit more excitement than usual because not do we have a new muse for December, we have a new Design Team Member too (more on that in a mo *wink*!) So sad to see Heather leaving us but happy to see Nina Brackett joining us as December's muse! And without further ado - here's her fabulous card up for CASEing this week:

Doesn't she just rock this shabby chic vintage style?! Hmmm....you just know this is a toughie for CAS lovin' gal like me but this is exactly the thing I love the most about CASE study. It can push you creatively if you want it to, or you can sit in your comfort zone and just adopt certain elements of the original creation. You decide what I did with this one:

Tis the Season

Is it CAS?! Maybe vintagey CAS?! I dunno but I do know that I welcome any Christmas card I get the chance to make at the moment as I'm still so behind on the Christmas crafting!

I hope you can join us and play along too. Up for grabs this week for one random peep is a stamp set courtesy of Christina Franco from The Angel Company!

Now go check out what the rest of the super talented CASE study DT rustled up. Speaking of which, we have a new lady on board with us who I'm already a HUGE fan of: Cristina Kowalczyk of My Paper Secret! This lady just ooozes fabulous CAS style and I'm so happy she's part of our team :)

But where one fab new stamper joins us, another one leaves. Sadly Teneale has had to step down for a bit for personal reasons. We hope she'll come back soon but in the meanwhile, why not leave her some love? I know she'd appreciate it :)

'tis the Season!

Hey!

My oh my does it feel like winter! We've had a good dollop of snow over the weekend which was sooooooo pretty but soooooooo scary to drive in! We're now facing lots of ice so it's definitely time for the mittens to make a more permanent appearance :)

Today we've got a new challenge over on our PTI blog and we've kept it simple. We understand how busy everyone gets around this time of year so all we wanna see is a Christmas themed project that uses at least one PTI product. Here's my example:

tis the season

Recognise the layout? Yup, I CASEd myself for this one but I was also totally inspired by the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World:This led to me smothering that snowflake with glimmer mist and stamping text all over it! Though you can't see all the pretty shimmer so you're gonna have to trust me on that one! Love the shimmer :)

So I think this maybe the design of my Christmas card this season....though damn the postage costs with those bows LOL!

Wishing you all a fabulous week - stay warm and safe! We've all got our fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow...

Subtle Shimmer...

Hey!

And Happy Thanksgiving to readers who are celebrating it!!! I'll confess that I'm totally jealous that you get an extra holiday for eating Turkey :)

Well it's Thanksgiving in America, Friday Eve over here and time for another CASE study!
I've sure loved having Heather Pulvirenti on board as our muse this month - she's one talented cardmaker! I'll be sorry to see her go *sob* but before I start blubbing, let's see her final creation up for CASEing this week:

Now I'm gonna surprise y'all and produce a Christmas Card before your very eyes *gasp* I know, you're seeing them everywhere at the moment, but for me this is major. I'm awful at making Christmas cards - I hardly find the mojo or the time for it all *sigh*!

Merry Christmas

I hope you can see that I kinda CASEd the layout! The pic doesn't show it, but there's loadsa subtle shimmer on this card; both from my shimmer chalks for the flourish, and my snowflake cut from shimmer cardstock. Gotta love some shimmer :)

Merry Christmas2

Seeing as I used that ol' snowflake die - I'm hoping that this card will qualify for Lucy's challenge too!

Now I know that some of you are real busy at this time of year (especially with Thanksgiving!) but we'd love it if you could squeeze in any inky time to play along with us! Why not check out what the rest of the super-talented CASE study DT rustled up?

A Very Happy (and bright) Birthday!

Hey!

Just poppin' by quickly on this rainy Sunday to help brighten it a little with a little card :)

Retro Happy Birthday

I've no idea what is possessing me to play with such bold, bright colours but I kinda likey! *Shhh! Don't let my neutral, muted cardstock and inks know about this....this is purely between us, OK?! LOL!*

Now it wasn't half as much of a pain to line up that background as you think thanks to the wonders of clear stamps. And just to show you that it does line up with the background (almost!) here's a head-on shot:

This card was made for the host of the fab birthday party we attended last Saturday. I eventually decided on dressing up as Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo (it's easy when you've got the red hair to start with!) I haven't got a pic to share yet, but trust me when I say my costume wasn't a patch on the space invader costume that I was in total awe of!

Happy days...well best be off now to prepare for the working week! Only four more to go before we break up for Christmas - can you believe it?! Not that I'm counting down or anything *wink*

Hi!

Hey!

I dunno about you but I'm wondering if this week will end? It's been really busy here, but that seems to have made time go slower...I always thought it was supposed to make time go faster?! Oh, I think I'm getting that mixed up with when you're having fun LOL! Well I think Friday Eve will go fast today because it's time for another CASE study!

Super excited to see a fab new card up for CASEing from our fabulous muse, Heather Pulvirenti:

I was originally going to go for a shaped card too, but chickened out took a different creative direction instead *wink*

Hi

I really must take pics in natural daylight - apologies for this one!

Now c'mon, admit it - you thought I'd run a mile from anything resembling a peachy colour, didn't ya? Well I attempted to hug it a little bit here with some help from some new Thickers from American Crafts - love 'em! :)

I hope you can join us with this week. If you need more tempting, up for grabs for one randomly selected participant is a "Retro Christmas" stamp set from Practicing Creativity courtesy of Judith Gowdy from JG's Nook! Shame I can't enter myself LOL!

And if you need a li'l more inspiration, then check out the rest of the CASE study DT who have some seriously fabulous creations:

Scrappy Power!

Hey!

Monday already - where did the weekend fly by to?!

Hope your week is off to a good start...I'm kicking mine off with a new challenge on our PTI blog. We're challenging you to turn your scraps into works of art! C'mon, 'fess up, we all hoard our scraps don't we?! I know I do anyways and in particular I hoard my tiny pieces of ribbon that I snip after tying a bow...anyone else save these scraps too?

So what to do with them....hmmmm.....well if you've checked out the new release over at Papertrey Ink, you'll have noticed those gorgeous banners. I'm totally smitten with them; especially the smaller versions to embellish cards with. So I tried to make my own banner by folding scraps of ribbon around twine:

I'm pretty happy with the result and just think, this could be used with any ribbon scraps so the colour combinations and patterns are endless!!!

We'd love it if you too could root through your scraps and play along with us. You only need to use one PTI product to qualify for entry and one lucky European player could be in with a chance of winning a Fillable Frames #4 stamp set! So I challenge you to use those scraps you've been saving - it'll totally justify any future scraps you hoard *wink*

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Boo!

Hey!

Did I scare ya? I always think a delayed 'spook' is way more effective than when you expect to be spooked...well that's my excuse for a major delay on sharing the treats I made for my nieces and nephews for Halloween anyways *wink* I've finally found a weekend where I can catch up with things so I'm making the most of it!

Due to restricted time, and the fact that I have seven nieces and nephews to cater for, I decided to whip out a few of these treat boxes courtesy of the fabulous PTI Favor it Box 1 Die. Combine this with Halloween themed colours and a seriously cute Halloween stamp set and Voila! Halloween treats - done!

Halloween Treat Boxes

Now the only issue with the treats I had to put in the boxes (chocolate eyeballs, spiders and pumpkins of course!) was not only resisting the temptation to scoff 'em, but getting them to stay in the boxes! They kept rolling out and across my table! So I had a rethink after taking that first pic, and decided to wrap the treats up and finish them off with some ribbon (bows for the gals, knots for the boys *grin*)

Halloween Treat Boxes
*Pssst: Ignore my button jars used as props! If you're wondering, they're from IKEA and hold a bag of PTI buttons perfectly!*

It's amazing the difference a bit of clear cellophane and ribbon can make to a gift!

Halloween Treat Boxes

Needless to say, I'm sure these treats have been scoffed and are long gone now! Though I did have some left over and they're sitting here with the rest of my crafting supplies - for inspiration of course! *wink*

A Very Happy Birthday!

Hey!

Happy Friday Eve! Is this week zooming by or what?! Feels like only yesterday I was posting for:Yet another week has come around and we're treated to this fabulous card by our muse for November, Heather P for this week's CASE study:

Oh I love Heather's style and colours so much....I tried to pluck up the courage to be a bit bolder with my own colour pallette for my take on the CASE study this week:

A Very Happy Birthday!

Wowzers! It's bright - but I think I likey! Again, struggling with daylight for my pics - I'm gonna have to be more organised with my inky time and use weekends for my photography sessions!

New freshly inked stamps on this card - ahhh I love new inky love *sigh*! It's like playing with a shiny new toy for me! Lovin' my Hero Arts Ledger stamp in particular.

I tried my hand at gradient stamping with a variety of pink inks. The 'Birthday' sentiment was originally to be at the bottom but those pinks were just that bit too pale to stand alone against that bright, bold, turquoise so I stamped it over to give the focal panel a bit more 'oomph!' That's a techincal term y'know ;)

As always, we'd love it if you could play along too! All you gotta do is be inspired by Heather's creation this week and CASE away in any way you feel inspired to. I was sold on the layout and the bold turquoise but you can pick whatever floats ya boat - that's the joy CASE study!

Check out what the rest of the CASE study DT came up with - you'll be surprised at how many different styles and interpretations come from just one point of CASEing!

Need more tempting to play along? Well one randomly chosen participant will win an All Season Swirl stamp set courtesy of Christina Franco from The Angel Company!

Have a super weekend if I don't see you before! We've got a fun Saturday night planned; Chris and I are off to a birthday party where you gotta dress up as your favourite character or toy as a kid....definitely had to put my thinking cap on for that one! I'm thinking Daphne from Scooby Doo - it's either that or Wilma Flintstone which could get a bit chilly with nothing on my feet! Ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by my li'l corner of Blogland :)

Catch ya later!

P.S I'm still catching up, but this card fits the Papertrey Peeps Challenge #18 too! One day, I'll catch up with all those fabby challenges...*sigh*
